History
Established in 2008
I've always had a passion for photography. Even when I was in elementary, I ventured out to take photos of nature, took special 4-H photography projects, and started developing photos in the darkroom in 6th grade. I continued my passion in college and afterward, shooting photos of high-end clothing and models. Once I became a mother, I of course wanted to capture every moment of my little ones. I used to work in a portrait studio and saw countless moms and dads drag their little ones in, studio was running behind, kids and parents got impatient, kids got outfit dirty from mom trying to preoccupy them with a sucker, and by the time the photos took place, kids were restless. Then, we tried to sit mom and dad down and pick out photos, when they just want to take their kids and get. out.
This is what drove me to start my own business and give clients the option to bring the studio to your home. It's more relaxed - no time crunch, no worries about outfits, kids can take a break if needed. Result: genuine happy memories.
Since then, I've had the opportunity to photograph multiple weddings, families, couples, babies, models, and so on.
Some recent proudest moments include my photos being published in the book, "Ladies of Society" by author Lea Marie Queen and photographing the new opening of Yudu Salons in Gahanna. I also participated in the Brides Against Breast Cancer bridal show held at the Westin Columbus in which all proceeds went towards breast cancer research.
By the end of 2013, Michelle Lynn Photography was awarded Best Wedding Photographer in Westerville, OH.
Meet the Business Owner: Michelle Sip
I have had a camera in my hand since I was 9. I was developing photos in the darkroom by 6th grade and continued that passion in college. After several years of shooting fashion photography and models for Abercrombie & Fitch, as well we working in a studio, I decided to venture out on my own. My other hobbies include teaching photography, graphic design, running, traveling, and spending time with my husband and three children.
I would describe my style as artistic journalistic. I am constantly challenging myself to try new things, light subjects in unique ways, and shoot from different angles, all while capturing the moments as they happen.
I truly enjoy the relationships I've formed with each client. I love hearing each person's story and helping them capture new stories in the form of photography.
I particularly have a passion for the printed photograph. As digital has taken over, I admittedly am saddened that photos do not get printed as often as they used to. What I do is my art. It is my hope that piece of art will generate fond memories and be displayed in someone's house, on a desk at work, on a beautiful canvas, or framed to hang in a special place that makes you smile each time you see it. I'm a bit of a 'techy', and really enjoy learning and using the latest technology. For digital photos, I've moved to putting images on USB drives instead of CD. I am well aware that CD drives will be gone soon, and so will all photos that were saved on CD's. USB drives can be re-used (unlike CD's which can only be burned once) and also have a higher storage capacity. This provides a better quality product for my digital image customers.
